Piano Men

Does that image just not fill you with LOVE?! I’m seeing Billy Joel and Elton John in concert tonight.  I paid $100 a ticket to undoubtedly be in the nosebleed section of Conseco Fieldhouse.  The sound will probably be bad. The beer? Expensive.  I thought about this when I signed on to ticketmaster that Saturday [...]

I Woke Up Today

From My Old Kentucky Blog:
Port O’Brien was also one of the best live shows I saw in 2008. Their “pots and pan finale” of I Woke Up Today made for the best audience participation, and way-to-end-on-a-great-note, at any concert this year.

I concur.

Christmas in August

Under the summer stars last night, it was suddenly Christmas morning, and I was five years old, and the lawn was a set of stairs, and at the bottom was the most glorious Christmas tree you’ve ever seen — Radiohead.

03. There There
04. All I Need

I want an Obama-Wonder Ticket

Yesterday morning, I overheard my boss down the hall, mentioning something about Obama, and then Stevie Wonder, and then “free”. I thought of all the things I had to do that night, all the errands I had to run, all the brow hairs that needed plucking, all the cardio I had to do to [...]

American Blog Posse

The first time I ever went to Indianapolis was with my parents in the mid-nineties.  I was in a regional dance competition called “Showstoppers,” or “Highsteppers” or “Tappy Tappers” or something equally absurd-sounding.  I was thirteen and had just discovered Tori Amos.  (That was just naive enough to NOT notice the phallic mushrooms on the [...]

It’s Alright, Bob. (You’re only aging.)

Melanie [] and I saw Bob, as in Dylan, last week at White River State Park, downtown Indy.  Many of you know that I adore Dylan, although I would argue that I am a mere fan compared to some bob-obsessed fanatics that I have met.  I went into the situation knowing that Bob is old, he’s kind of ragged, [...]

So f’ing stoked.

HEY!
MY TICKETS ARRIVED YESTERDAY TO SEE THIS MAN!!!

Or, to some kindergarteners — the “weird man who sings scary songs on his guitar.”
I am so fucking excited.
P.S. I have an extra ticket - so if you’d like to go, let’s talk.

drunk and wearing flip-flops on fifth avenue

Me, Jody, and Rufus.
One year, three months, three weeks, and two days ago, Jody and I saw Rufus Wainwright in Ann Arbor. We fucking MET him. Here is the proof, taken on a disposable camera and scanned with my cheap-ass scanner which I got on discount for fifteen bucks.

Rufus Wainwright is one of the [...]

“FINGERBANGIN’!”

I forgot to mention that I saw The Wreckers at Jake’s (formerly known as “The Tap,” formerly known as “Axis,” which I will always refer to as “Cracksis”)  last Wednesday with Curtis and Toby.

It had been such a crappy day up until that point — what with my electricity being turned off and me cleaning [...]

Bloomington to Indy is a mere fifty miles…

…that doesn’t mean there cannot be gratuitous picture-taking.

Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young played the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville on Saturday.  (By the way? I decided I pretty much want to live at the Verizon Wireless Music Center.  I just want to set up nice little domicile and watch shows and feast on $7.00 beers.  [...]

Just look at them at sigh, and know they love you…

Crazy David Crosby says:

“Who’s going to the Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young concert on September 2nd? Jenn is, and she would like some marijuana free lovin’ company.”
Damon got me tickets to CSNY for my birthday! Let me know if you are going!

I will die.
Anyone have an extra $169.50?

Don’t it feel like tonight might never be again?

…I had been feeling, lately, that I had been in this funk of sorts.  I get depressed, is all — we all do.  Do you notice that it feels so damn good, sometimes, to just sit in it?  To just feel whatever it is you’re meant to feel, and go from there?  For me, this [...]
