After uploading my photographs to Flickr, it only takes about two minutes of me rummaging around through other people’s images to come to the realization that my work is amateur crap. There is SO much talent and creativity in photography out there and my only hope is that I can be inspired and get better at it. Here are a couple shots this weekend with the ol’ 50mm:

i think it’s important to understand that in any artistic attempt, there’s always going to be someone better than you. that might sound depressing, but it’s actually quite liberating when you think about it. it allows you more freedom in your work. when i see a short film that i really like it inspires me to think in new ways that i hadn’t considered before.

Well said. I think ultimately I feel that way, too, but it comes out in writing as, “Blah blah self-deprecation blah.”

whenever i hear someone say “self-deprecation” i think of “less than the air” by david dondero, another artist i think you’d dig. essentially, conor oberst owes him a ton of money for ripping off his schtick.

I think your photos are great! I’m always impressed with how focused they are on one particular object or just how clear they look.
Did you visit an exhibit at the state museum this weekend? My sister works there and helped put on the Girl Scouts exhibit.

Love the cash register shot. There are some wonderful photo groups on Flickr, though I always end up feeling inadequate (I don’t even TRY to take nice shots, I’m point and shoot to the max).

Ditto what’s above. I’m enjoying what I’m seeing here.
