Did I mention I love, love, love wine country? It’s quiet and peaceful and rich and lovely, and you meet the greatest people with wonderful stories and limitless passions.

This is the winery at Nicholson Ranch (in the foothills of Sonoma)

They had this great big window in their tasting room that let in TONS of natural light.

After you visit a good deal of wineries (we visited seven in two days), you notice there are two kinds of tasting rooms.
1) You pay a tasting fee (that gets paid whether or not you buy wine from them), get X number of wines to try, they will tell you the basics of the wine, that’s it.
2) The pourers don’t limit you, they tell you stories, they relate to you, they pour heavily, and oftentimes let you try something not on the list.
I loved Nicholson Ranch for reason 2. I can’t remember the guys name, but he was just the sweetest guy. It didn’t hurt that when I told him my name was Jennifer, he asked if anyone called me Jenny, and then referenced a poem of which I thought nobody ever knew.
