I’ve watched like, two eps of America’s Next Top Model (also known as “Top Mod” among my girlfriends) this season.  Every year, they always have one or two plus sized models.  Even if they don’t take the best photographs, you always root for them, because it’s always gratifying to watch a full-figured woman who oozes confidence beat out some skinny bitch who hasn’t eaten since the early nineties.

Sarah, pictured above, was this year’s token plus-sized model.  Per Tyra Banks, requirements for this sector of modeling include being a size 12, 14, or 16.  First things first - this chick clearly is NOT a size 12, 14, 16.  Rather, she is 5′10″ and 150 pounds.  PLUS-SIZE, NO.  She is, for all intents and purposes, “normal.”  Great. Fine. It kind of got under my skin a bit, but, again, I will vote for the person who has the balls to put herself in a situation where she is the undeniable “other.” (even in modeling, where “normal” means ”you need to try a lot harder to be ‘beautiful’.”)  Go, curvy girl, go.

Thing is? The whole, living-with-models thing got to our dear Sarah, and she started to lose weight.  It would affect you too, if you had to live in a house full of 2×4’s in stilletos.  The judges started mentioning it…”You seem to be losing weight.” And she’d be like, “No, I really haven’t! I swear!” which is the exact opposite of what happens in real life, to real people.  The difference is, if I were in Sarah’s position, I would use that as a Get Outta Starvation Free card, and down a bowl of queso before next panel.  (But that’s just me.) You could see it in her face; she was confused as hell.  She was neither plus-sized nor gaunt.  Not fat enough, nor skinny enough. Because of her “normal” size, she was told by Tyra that there was no place for her in modeling. FOR THIS, SHE WAS ELIMINATED.

FUCK YOU, TYRA BANKS. Fuck your Top Model franchise that is screwing up girls nationwide.  MAJOR STEP BACKWARD.
