Remember that one time, when they made a major motion picture about my PAST LIFE?!?!?!
I have conflicting feelings about this film.
Hits:
+ Moulin Rouge was uber-successful, as was Rent, even though that movie was barely watchable and didn’t do an ounce of justice to the broadway show.
+ Um, hello. Bono plays “Dr. Roberts” and Eddie Izzard plays “Mr. Kite” which has the potential of being totally awesome.
+ I fucking love a good musical.
+ This kind of goes without saying — I <3 the Beatles.
Misses:
- Remember the Sgt. Pepper movie with the Bee Gees?

[GOD I hate Peter Frampton.]
Lest we forget the movie adapdation of The Who’s Tommy?

- I know very little about the Broadway show Hair, but: Isn’t Across the Universe pretty much Hair with Beatles songs thrown in?
- I wonder what John Lennon would have said about this if he were alive. I’ve already tsk,tsk-ed the film more than once in regards to how commercial a lot of Beatles material has become. [Hello, Good Buy?!?!] The reality is, many of us adore the Beatles, but you know what? The Beatles aren’t around any more. Those of us obsessed enough will find ways to keep them around, though, like making a major motion picture, or a las vegas show with contortionist acrobats. …Or a blog.
