An American in Bloomington

I watch Passport to Europe every day on my lunch break.
And every day, I am more determined to make enough money that I can get around to all these places being featured.
It also kind of makes me think that I don’t really want to have babies, so I can just jet-set around and whatnot.

Every episode, I feel like I am destined to go to that country.  ["Iceland looks fucking sweet!"]  I even watched the episode on Paris today, and I’ve been to Paris twice, and didn’t even like it as much as other French cities, and I was all, “Oooh.. Paris. Yeah.”  Because it’s fucking Paris.

Here are some random things I plan on doing in my lifetime…

1) Write a letter to Juliet.  Send a love letter to the Club di Guilietta in Verona, Italy, and you will get a personalized, hand-written response.

2) Have an homemade Italian supper in an Italian home. If you subscribe to this HomeFood network and travel to Bologna, Italy, you can be a guest in a number of Italian homes where they cook meals for you with locally grown foods.  Love this, as you rarely get to see how people REALLY live in Europe unless you know somebody.

3) Go to the Saunas in Helsinki, Finland.  Saunas are the big social thing in Finland.  You basically strip down naked and sit in scathing-hot rooms, then run and jump into the sea or roll in the snow.  Then you sit around a fire, roasting a big sausage and drinking a stein of beer.  I find this hilarious.  And irresistable.

  • That girl is so lucky. I can’t watch that show cause it makes me very sad that im not traveling. Ive been thinking since we graduated about taking a long trip abroad but I better do it soon before Im 40 and stilling saying it. I also wouldnt mind living in Europe again. Do you know I also have had a work visa for new zealand for the past year and I haven’t used it! Maybe we should go!
