1. Of all the bands/artists in your cd/record collection, which one do you own the most albums by?
Harry Connick, Jr. I’m sorry, guys. I wish I was lying about that.
2. What was the last song you listened to?
God Put a Smile on Your Face (?), Coldplay.
(I am at the station and the playlist is not in front of me)
3. What’s in your record/cd player right now?
A Mix CD, entitled “..Because I Don’t Have Any Money and All I Can Do Is Make Mix CDs”
On said CD? A LOT of Jack White…(White Stripes and Raconteurs)
4. What song would you say sums you up?
“She” by Elvis Costello. Or maybe that’s just what I’d like to think.
5. What’s your favorite local band?
The Future!
6. What was the last show you attended?
Tom Petty in Indianapolis.
7. What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
I will also get more flak for this, but — Jason Mraz’s acoustic set at the Murat. I got serenaded. :)
8. What’s the worst band you’ve ever seen in concert?
Probably some fratty kid trying to play his acoustic at a party.
9. What band do you love musically but hate the members of?
Oasis.
11. What show are you looking forward to?
I wish I were looking forward to the Fiona Apple/Damien Rice show. Alas, I don’t have tickets.
*EDIT: SUFJAN STEVENS at the MURAT on SEPTEMBER 23! WHO IS GOING!!*
12. What is your favorite band shirt?
The Who!
(Side story, ran into a customer at work who had The Who shirt, was not amused by my “magic who shirt” stories.)
13. What musician would you like to hang out with for a day?
David Bowie
(and you all thought I’d say Bob Dylan. Well, here’s my reasoning — what if I hang out with Dylan and I get him in a random mood and he’s a total asshole? I think tea with David Bowie would be lovely. Worse comes to worse, I ditch Dave and hang out with Iman.)
14. What musician would you like to be in love with for a day?
D’Angelo. And by “love,” I mean sex.
15. Metal question: Jeans and Leather vs. Cracker Jack clothes?
I am obviously not Metal. I have no idea what that means.
16. Sabbath or solo Ozzy?
Sabbath, definitely.
17. Commodores or solo Lionel Ritchie?
How bout a complete elimination of both?
18. Punk rock, hip hop or heavy metal?
Punk rock.
19. Doesn’t Primus suck?
No! I cannot dog a band that plays the theme song to South Park.
20. Name 4 flawless albums:
Radiohead — OK Computer
Bob Dylan — Blood on the Tracks
The Beatles — Abbey Road
Joni Mitchell — Blue
(This, of course, changes with every passing moment.)
21. Did you know that filling out this survey makes you a music geek?
I didn’t need the survey to tell me that.
22. What was the greatest decade for music?
Hands down, the 1960s.
23. How many music-related videos/dvds do you own?
I own more music-related dvds than actual movies. (Favorites: Woodstock, Bob Dylan - Don’t Look Back, and the Zeppelin 2-disc concert set)
24. Do you like Journey?
No.
25. Don’t try to pretend you don’t!
I really don’t. I will sing along to them like everybody else, but that’s just group sing-along protocol.
26. What is your favorite movie soundtrack?
Garden State. (Runners Up: Dirty Dancing, Sister Act II)
27. What was your last musical ‘phase’ before you wised up?
Every musical ‘phase’ had some addition to the soundtrack of my life. Things I’d rather forget – the “country phase” during middle school (because everybody else liked it) and the emo singer-songwriter push in my late teens, when everything I listened to sounded like Dashboard Confessional.
28. What’s the crappiest CD/record/etc. you’ve ever bought?
I got suckered into one of those music club deals and got stuck paying for album that was a Tribute to the DOORS. No one wants to hear fucking Creed doing a cover of Riders on the Storm. Just doesn’t work.
29. Do you prefer vinyl or CDs?
CDs seem more realistic for me and my needs. I have some of my dad’s vinyl, but no way to play it. The cover art makes for great decor, though.
