What to discuss..what to discuss…
Oh. Ha. I got my hair cut at a new place in town called — wait for it — Beaux Tangles. Go and support local business, ladies and fellas. By “go” I mean 11th and Rogers and by “support” I mean only $21 for a fantastic haircut that doesn’t leave your bangs reminiscent of your life as a five year old girl (I’m lookin’ at you, Mondo Salon!) The owner basically gave me a free color consultation too, and tips on how to buy professional hair color — information which she could have easily withheld and then charged $65 to have herself do. She’s good people.*
In other news, I also tried Tofutti Cuties, pretty much because talks them up and I have to trust the recommendations of someone who can never eat cheese again. I give them a thumbs up. I wish everything in the organic section didn’t cost $39814323 a pop. I’m sure there’s a reason for this that would involve a heated agricultural debate and a simple google search of “why is organic food so expensive” but it’s 4:30 am and I am Le Tired.
I’m a loyal shopper of the Marsh on Kinser Pike, even though the Ghetto Kroger on 1st is closer to my apartment. I refer to the Marsh on 3rd Street as “Bourgeois Marsh,” not only because it has this really expensive organic section but the lighting in their produce is actually dimmer than any supermarket I’ve seen. They have like, day-spa lighting in that motherfucker.
…Also, I had some really good conversations at work today. One lady and I talked about her kids, who were around my age, and the other lady and I talked about gospel music. It was undoubtedly the highlight of my work day, and only a couple minutes of these conversations were about selling product. I think only a handful of leadership in the store would really recognize this, and it drives me crazy. I’m not trying to judge male employees at our store by any means, but I think there are certain aspects of customer interactions that are totally overlooked sometimes. We are becoming so conditioned to sell people shit that we are losing sight of people-to-people connections and how powerful that bond is. Yes, this is me being overtly sensitive and naive and not understanding why everyone doesn’t feel more.
…Also, right now I’m not one-hundred-percent certain of anything. Except that maybe, right now, Nightswimming by REM is perhaps one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
*I don’t think I’ve ever used this phrase. Ever.

Don’t have an ETA for Michigan as of yet, trying to tackle one thing at a time, and by “thing” I mean paying for a trip to Hawaii.
Also, coffee/wine/fondu sounds FABULOUS!
Miss you too!

Where have you been? I never see you online anymore. I was just scanning through my long “offline list” and saw your name and thought–what in the world is going on with her nowadays?
So anyway, it’s 6:00 am here now and I just wanted to check in. Feel free to get online from time to time Jennnnnnn. . . . .
