I’d been thinking about The Sound of Music.
The other day, I was singing “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” song to Damon, because he’s five years older than I am, so I think I was singing, sarcastically, “I need someone, older and wiser, telling me what to doooooooo…”
And he was like, what the fuck, what is that from, and I’m all, SOUND OF MUSIC, WHAT KIND OF CHILDHOOD DID YOU HAVE? And he’s all, a childhood without VCRs! And I probably proceeded to mock him for being so old.
But now I was obsessed with watching it. The other day, in the shower, I kept singing that one line when Captain VonTrapp and Maria proclaim their love in the greenhouse…

For there you are, standing there, loving me
Whether or not you should
So somewhere in my youth or childhood
I must have done something good
(which, again, is a very Catholic notion. or Jewish, when you consider Hammerstein was the lyricist on that one.)
And WHAT do I find on ABC tonight? FUCK RIGHT, Sound of Music. And I am even more convinced that it’s one of the best musicals of all time.
SO HAPPY.
(and still drunk from the Chardonnay.)
