In Which I Complain about my Job. Again. OR: Why Didn’t I Go to Graduate School?

I can’t win.  I can’t fucking win.

I got the go-ahead to have the following days off from Best Buy:
Sunday December 25 (obviously) through Wednesday December 28th. Figured, I could work the Saturday December 24 overnight at WTTS, and drive home afterwards to make it in time for Christmas breakfast.  A good couple days off. Drive back to B-town Thursday morning. Grood. Great and Good.

– So I suddenly get scheduled for MONDAY December 26 overnight and WEDNESDAY December 28 overnight at WTTS.  What. The. Fuck. I never work Mon./Wed. overnights!  I assume the schedule’s all bijiggity because people are going home for Christmas, but I’m like FUCK IT! IIIII HAVE TO GO HOME FOR CHRISTMAS!

– My worst fear is this: I can’t find anyone to sub for me at the station.  I’d have to actually LEAVE my entire FAMILY, on CHRISTMAS fucking EVENING, to drive FIVE HOURS to INDIANA to babysit the RADIO.  Oh, but THEN? I’d have THREE days OFF, to do NOTHING but CRY and BITCH and ABUSE CAPSLOCKS and FORMATTING.

Hello, Quarter-Life Crisis?

Speaking.

i won’t stand for this shit. if you can’t find anyone to take your shifts, we’ll construct a look-alike doll to prop up in a chair during your shifts. that way, we only need someone to infiltrate the station and plant it at the beginning of every shift and take it away when its over. actually, now that i think about it, it might just be easier to find somoene to take your shifts. yeah. go with that.

  • I say you tell the schedulers at WTTS to cram your extra shifts up their cram-holes.
You haven’t come home since freaking October, when your BF wasn’t really even in town. Ergo, you are more entitled to the time off than they are.
    End of story.
