“If there’s any kind of magic in this world, it must be in the attempt of understanding someone, sharing something. I know, it’s almost impossible to succeed, but… who cares, really? The answer must be in the attempt.”
– Celine, Before Sunrise, 1995

I bought Before Sunrise on a whim and watched it last night. I quickly became obsessed and immediately bought its sequel Before Sunset (2004) to see what happened to the characters. I adore storylines that celebrate the powerful impact that can happen between two people who randomly meet. There is NO action in either of these movies. NOTHING HAPPENS. It’s essentially one continuous conversation, but one that is so intimate you feel you are a voyeur for even viewing it. The whole thing is so delicately handled and true to life.
