It’s 2:30 am. Do you know where your Jenn is?
…At the radio station, naturally, and in about three hours, I’ll be making the 360-mile trek up to the north country. I’m saying Yes! to Michigan.
I haven’t been home since…:: actually goes back into LJ archives to look up:: since July 15th? It’s been awhile, then! I haven’t been phoning home as much as I used to. When I do call, I get put on speaker phone while my life is segmented into Mom/Dad conversations — Mom with the General well-being/Friends/Dating questions, Dad choosing to focus on Work/Money/Automobile Maintenance. So a typical Q&A session will sound like,
Mom: “So how’s the new guy you’re seeing?” and simultaneously, Dad, shouting from the background: “Did you get your oil changed? Ask her if she got her oil changed!”
Talking about relationships always makes Dad uncomfortable. I can’t even remember the last time Dad and I talked about anything remotely close to how men and women interact, actually. You can’t really blame him, as I am his only child, and a daughter, at that.
But I digress. I’m looking forward to being home for a few days. The weekend will culminate with a Sunday in Ann Arbor, where I will finally, FINALLY get to see RUFUS WAINWRIGHT in concert. S’bout damn time, you all say. S’bout damn time.
