I’m done fighting with my dad as to why he should get broadband internet. My father, an early adopter of new technolgies! Someone who, before it was even CALLED the internet, was on the internet!! Thus, I come to you on dial-up. So very vintage.
I’m on vacation. It’s overcast. There’s snow on the ground. It’s very quintessentially Michigan. But it’s home.
I was bored as all hell and spent a good part of my afternoon rummaging around Barnes and Nobles. I picked up Jack Kerouac’s On the Road, which I’ve always meant to read. I was just…so peculiarly sad today, I drove to the airport, just to see if I could see some planes take off. I don’t know why I thought it would make me feel better — just seemed like a good idea at the time. I meandered through the office buildings around that area, and the feelings of dread continued. I’m using this week to search for a job, particularly in the Grand Rapids area - and is THIS what I need to become accustomed to? Fighting traffic on 28th street to pay my entry-level dues at some office building? I’m not so sure that’s what I want.
I passed a cemetary on the way, and they were putting a coffin into the ground, eerily close to Patterson Avenue. It just seemed so inapprorpiate to be so close to something so personal. Suddenly, my sadness didn’t matter.
“Every single day, someone is having the worst day of his or her life,” I thought to myself. “And today, Jenny, is not yours.”
(Don’t get me wrong, everything/one has been great. I’m just in a funk today.)
Change of subject.
Anyway, if you know someone who’s in marketing/advertising, anywhere: Hook me up. I need to network some more.
And I’m sending a letter of inquiry to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. THEY like Rock n’ Roll, and THEY need to be promoted. I like Rock n’ Roll and I want to PROMOTE. They NEED me. And besides, Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks!
